Mmmm, Beer.

I know I’ve been MIA for the last few weeks.  No guarantees it will improve anytime soon.  Please accept my apologies.

Now, you’d think for my welcome back post I’d explain everything that’s been going on and what I’ve been up to.  Maybe another day.

Today just a quick post about something I have dearly missed since going Gluten Free about a year ago.

Beer.

Having lived in Portland, OR and Fort Collins, CO during some very formative parts of my life I developed a deep appreciation for craft or micro-brew beers, or any good beer.  Loved me some McMenamin’s Terminator Stout.  Fat Tire and Drop Top were also favorites. Heck, even Corona’s were awesome in my book.  I’m not one to be afraid of the dark either, so Guinness was good on the right day too.  But, GF means no beer.

There are some sorghum beers out there, but for some reason I’ve been hesitant to try them.  I had heard about a new beer where they brew it in a way to remove the gluten.  Using normal ingredients.  So, since I was in Portland this past week I picked some up.  Just now cracked open a bottle.

Omission Beer by Widmer may just save my life.  Taking my first swigs of their Lager has put me in a better place – physically, emotionally and spiritually.  Without killing my gut.  In the past, my go to choice would have been an Amber – the maltier the better.  On my palate, this lager tastes pretty balanced.  Not too hoppy, not too malty.  For those that like a little more bite, they have a Pale Ale too.

Ahhh.  A little sense of normalcy.  :-)

  3. Good to see you, Liz, and hope all is well.

Couldn’t have put it better myself – mmm…beer. Very happy you find a good label you can enjoy!

    • Hey Guapster, thanks for the comment. All is well. Beer definitely makes it better too. :-)

One of these days I’ll even get caught up with everyone. *sigh*

  4. Ahhhh, now I see the reason for your absence. Drunk huh? Yup, been there, done that no regrets :)
(Only joking my friend. Besides that, it cost way too much to get drunk today )
    Good to see you back!

    • Hehehehe. That would’ve been one heck of a bender, huh? And no kidding about the cost! Like everything else specifically labeled gluten free, this beer was about half again as much as the regular stuff.

  5. Good to know all is well with your world. Miss the commentary and hope you can get back to it soon!
